HiMarket started the way most trades in Hong Kong do: in group chats — haggling over prices, waiting on replies, and arranging MTR meet-ups that sometimes never happened. We were players first, buying and selling singles ourselves, and we kept thinking the city deserved better: fixed prices, real stock, and someone accountable in the middle.

So we built it. Development started in May 2025, and after half a year of building and internal testing with the players around us, HiMarket opened in December as Hong Kong's marketplace for Magic: The Gathering singles, run from a small space in Wan Chai — no warehouse, just a counter, a work table and a shelf of cards. Every card that trades on HiMarket crosses that counter, where our staff check it against its listing before the seller gets paid.

Being small is not something we hide — it's how the guarantee works. Because every trade settles through us, a listing on HiMarket means the card is real and the condition has been verified, and if a seller ever fails to deliver, you get a full refund plus compensation. Sellers pay one small fee when a card sells; listing costs nothing.

Month by month the platform grew: a partnership with Basic Land added pickup counters in Mong Kok and Wan Chai, worldwide shipping opened the shelf to players overseas, our free card wiki launched, and in August 2026 Riftbound joined Magic as our second game. The team is still small, still local — and still playing.
